Liz Uible, Co-Founder
By Christine
Harvey
Liz was a high achiever from the beginning. At Georgetown University,
with a degree in Foreign Service and International Finance and Commerce, she became
the first ever business manager to gain national distribution of the
Georgetown Journal of International Affairs. It was here that Liz gained her strong passion for international
scholarship and adventure, and went on to tour Central and South Asia in the late 90s.
She traveled
through Taliban-ruled Afghanistan shortly after the War Lords were expelled.
While in
Afghanistan she was by law
dressed in a Burkha from head to toe, and made friends with the locals
on a level that seems unprecedented from our Western perspective. Shes become passionate about helping people reach their
economic potential and helping women, as Liz would say, create their lives of
their dreams, not just fall into life.
And thats one of the things I like best about Liz - her passion for
life, also her absolute determination to stay centered within herself
and maintain her own equilibrium, her constant quest for improvement of
herself and all around her through reading, studying, and inspiration
from others. I treasure her for being one of the highest go to
people in the world for motivation, and Ive known many. If there is a
positive nugget in any situation, Liz will help you find it!
Even this trait showed up early in life. Liz doesn't buy "I Can't"
excuses. While in high school and
college, she coached girls in basketball, and taught them self
confidence. I cant was not part of the allowed vocabulary with Coach
Liz. If they uttered those words, they had to run sprints as a
penalty! Liz likes to make a positive impact on peoples lives, not just
for the moment, but forever. Youll see these traits in her contribution
to our Programs, events, newsletters, blog and Wealth Building Curriculum.
It was these traits that drew me to Liz. (She and I
are also partners in a national real estate investment company,
where we specialize in analysis and due diligence.) Liz has a
distinguished early career in
Wall Street, where she worked for a branch of the firm now owned
by Deutsche Bank as a marketing analyst, and later for a high return
hedge fund where she specialized in marketing, customer relations and
business management.
Liz has a real passion for international connection and philanthropy, so it was a natural fit
for us to work together and develop the
WomenforWealth.com Foundation
for MicroLending, into which donations and a percentage from all WomenforWealth.com proceeds go.
This foundation helps women in Rwanda start businesses, aimed at making them and their communities
self supporting, ending the cycle of poverty. As the micro loans are
paid back, the money re-circulates, and helps even more women, families
and communities.
Now, in addition to her leadership in WomenforWealth.com,
WomenforWealth.com Foundation, and our real estate consortium, Liz
invests in commercial and resident property and resides near
Washington DC with her supportive and entrepreneurial husband,
Cyrus.
